How old do I have to be? Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Fifteen-year-olds may participate in limited construction activites such as painting, caulking, landscaping. Volunteers of the age of 16 and 17 are permitted to participate in construction but are not allowed to use power tools. Parents must sign a waiver for all minors under the age of 18.

What is the work schedule? The construction schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. until around 4:30 p.m. Volunteers must arrive on-site at 8 a.m. Sometimes we have Saturday construction days. If your group wishes to work this day please let the volunteer coordinator know. inquire with construction staff the week you are here to find out if they plan to build that day.

Does Habitat provide transportation? Volunteers are responsible for travel to and from the Bay St. Louis area as well as to and from the job site. Gulfport/Biloxi International airport is apporoximately 30 minutes from Bay St. Louis and Louis Armstrong International airport in New Orleans is a little over an hour away. You can rent cars or vans at both of these airports.

Should I bring tools? We have several tool trailers and all the tools you should need. Please feel free to bring your own hand tools if you are more comfortable.

What should I wear? You must wear close-toed shoes-boots or sneakers are fine. You may wear shorts or pants. May-September can be very hot, please bring a hat, sunscreen, BUG SPRAY, and a water bottle. Often times rain showers pop up mid-afternoon we suggest you bring rain gear with you. Give the weather a check before you come!

Is there an orientation? Orientation is at 7 p.m. on Sunday. For those not staying in volunteer housing you may come and join us for orientation.

Is there a waiver? We require you to complete our Habitat waiver. The waiver must be electronically signed during the online registration process.
