Since January 2006, Habitat Bay Waveland has built more than 225 new homes, completed over 654 critical home repairs and 202+ weatherization projects in Hancock and Pearl River counties.

Habitat Bay Waveland was born out of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent need for affordable housing. Bay St. Louis and Waveland were ground zero for the storm. Although our construction of new homes has slowed down, our critical home repair program is helping homeowners that can’t afford sorely needed repairs and our weatherization program continues to help homeowners obtain more efficient energy bills and a healthier living environment. We’ve served more than 1,081 families and are working to find innovative ways to serve even more families that need a hand up, not a hand out.

In 2016, we expanded our service area through a merger with the Pearl River County Habitat. Today, we serve more than 101,000 people in a service area that stretches 1,372 square miles (larger than the state of Rhode Island).

We are thankful for the support of over 8,000 volunteers over the last 12 years. We continue to support our community with various programs such as weatherization, critical home repairs, and our veterans repair program. Habitat Bay Waveland offers families in need a hand up.
